The Magoffin Home is located in downtown El Paso less than one mile from the U.S.–Mexico border. The state of Texas and the city of El Paso purchased and opened the home to the public in 1977. The home is part of the Magoffin Historic District and is one of the oldest surviving adobe structures in the area. It reflects the lives of a prominent early El Paso family. Numerous artifacts including furniture, textiles, photographs, art and documents are on display in the home. These are supplemented with period pieces to give a more complete view of what the home looked like in different time periods. The 1.5-acre site offers a glimpse of the past as visitors explore its lovely grounds and renovated rooms. The historical significance of the home lies in its unique architecture and in the history of the Magoffins and their descendants who lived in the home for more than 100 years. A multicultural family, they were active and influential participants in their community, served during military conflicts and witnessed important historic events.

The main road past White Sands National Monument is US 70; this (and the dunes) is closed to all traffic for a few hours once or twice a week as test missiles are fired overhead. A paved road leads from the visitor center at the monument entrance on US 70 to the start of the sands 2 miles north. The edge dunes are just a few meters high and support some plant life, with various species of grass, yucca and saltbush managing to survive at scattered points. Authentic Mexican food

A review from the internet...:Homecooked meals with friendly service!!! Patty O. | Insider Guru | Barrigas Restaurant The food here is truly authentic. From the beans with just the right amount of white cheese to the nice and warm tortillas. Chicken flautas are also very good. Served with sour cream and guacamole. Prices are pretty reasonable

Another review from the internet:This place is fabulous. The staff will treat you like family and the food is mouthwatering. My favorites are the chili renellos and the green chicken enchilladas. My favorite bartender is Cindy. She can serve up the greatest Margarita is all of Texas. It is a must try. Pay this place a visit and just ask for Anita's margarita you will be glad you did.
